History
MEEP was established in 1982 by group of
parents who were in search of a program that could enhance
their children’s academic and social growth. When
I joined MEEP, the board of directors and I had a vision
and that was to create an environment where students from
different backgrounds, ethnicity and religion realize
that when they walk into room 109 it is a place of learning,
exchanging ideas, and realizing one’s fullest potential.
I believe firmly that we have accomplished that goal by
relying on our knowledge of children, twenty years of
experience in education and most importantly the respect
we have for our students.
One of the biggest differences our program
offers is the structured and specific classes we have
for all of our students. Students do not choose which
class they attend, instead we have a structured daily
schedule which the students follow. Over the years we
have found that this consistency helps the students to
realize their academic achievements.
Our different programs such as Dance, Theatre
and Literacy Program have only enhanced our curriculum.
MEEP had only 18 students back in 1997.
That number has grown to 125 students. This is approximately
1/3 of our school population and growing.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with
an extremely dedicated staff, and board of directors which
has been a crucial driving force behind MEEP and its growing
success,
MEEP was designed to work with the whole
child and I believe firmly that over the years it has
accomplished its goal.
